School Curriculum

At PS 15, our goal is to get to know each child on a personal level by quickly identifying specific interests, strengths, and learning styles. By individualizing instruction, student achievement is maximized. All units of study are aligned to the Next Generation Learning Standards.

English Language Arts

At PS 15, we use the EL Education curriculum to help students grow as readers, writers, and thinkers. This program is built around engaging, high-quality texts and meaningful topics that connect to the real world. Students learn to read closely, build knowledge across subjects, and express their ideas clearly in writing and discussion. EL Education also emphasizes habits of character—such as perseverance, responsibility, and collaboration—so that children not only excel academically but also develop the skills they need to thrive in school and beyond.

Math

We use Illustrative Mathematics to build deep understanding of math concepts and problem-solving skills. Rather than memorizing steps, students explore multiple strategies, discuss their thinking, and make connections between ideas. Lessons are designed to be hands-on, engaging, and challenging, helping students develop confidence as mathematicians who can reason, explain, and apply math in real-world situations.

Physical Education

STEAM

Students conduct online research, practice keyboarding, and learn to operate the equipment, and particular emphasis is placed on integrating technology and art. Students explore innovative ways to share their interests and talents through multimedia presentations, animation, digital illustration, and coding.  While our Maker Space is the exciting locus for STEM and STEAM,  classroom learning regularly incorporates STEM and STEAM as well.

Social Studies

PS 15 follows the NYC scope and sequence for social studies instruction through the use of the Passport Curriculum. Students gain meaningful social studies content knowledge through literacy learning and direct enrichment experiences.

Science

Through the use of the Amplify Science curriculum, students become researchers, biologists, physicists, geologists, and general science enthusiasts who seek and discover by questioning and exploring the world around them.
